LESSON INFORMATION

LESSON DETAILS:  Online LESSON REQUEST & PLAYER PLACEMENT CLICK HERE

I would recommend, at the bare minimum, one, 1 hour session per week. The quality of ice time that a skater receives is also very important. If you are looking for hockey development for your player, in my professional opinion, the player should be taught by hockey development instructors. Player development is what I, as well as my staff, do for a living. We grow our own, from the bottom level up. If you are serious about developing him to become a competitive level player it needs to start now.
This is what we accomplish in a 1 hour lesson (depending on the level of play):

-Teach a specific powerskating technique
-Teach the same powerskating technique with a puck
-Teach the same powerskating and skills technique with a game positioning scenario
-Teach it under pressure and apply it to a real game situation

You can literally take exactly what we are teaching from the screens of any NHL game. Moves that OV and Crosby are doing in game settings are what we teach. It's pretty cool! I would be more than happy to take the time to sit and meet with you and your son and customize a training program with him to maximize his learning potential.

HARDCORE HOCKEY DEVELOPMENT
DEDICATION
Hardcore Hockey offers a year-round, in-house, staff dedicated to its players and their development. We are the only program in the U.S. that offers a hands-on personalized training experience. Our staff instructors are top-notch coaches that have been trained by the best on how to instruct proper form and technique. Every instructor is experienced and knowledgeable in every aspect of the game. We preach the same philosophy and work together as a team in order to provide the best training and developmental teaching for players on and off the ice. No matter the skill level, all hardcorestudents are known on a personal level by the entire staff to ensure the full evaluation and development of players. Each player’s strengths, weaknesses, and personal goals are important to the entire staff. As a team we work to help achieve these goals and eliminate a player’s weaknesses, as they become effective weapons on the ice. Our priority is to bring players to the next level and beyond.

STRICTLY SKILL ORIENTED
Hardcore Hockey is NOT affiliated with any specific team or program. We are our own entity – operating strictly for player development. We offer year-round private, semi-private, group, and team lessons personalized for each player’s development. Players are divided into groups based on age and skill level and will never be placed in a group that is not the right fit for them. That being said, players will be challenged by instructors and those around him or her in order to accelerate their individual game while having fun at the same time.

PERMANENCE
Unlike other developmental programs, Hardcore Hockey does not travel. During the summer, we offer a comprehensive ten-week program of back-to-back camps and clinics. We remain at SkateQuest rink throughout the year to provide developmental training sculpted for your player’s specific goals. We believe that it is necessary to treat each player differently, which is why we divide the ice into four corners. Hockey is not a ‘one size fits all’ sport so we refuse to use wireless microphones for instruction. Instead, we implement one-on-one techniques and small group instruction to facilitate development. Year after year we sell out every camp and clinic because of our superb instruction and player-instructor interaction. We boast the lowest player to instructor ratio in the region if not the world. Regardless of who the player is, he or she will walk away from each session having learned something and having actually became a better hockey player.

HOCKEY IS OUR LIFE
Unlike other outside paid company programs found at rinks across America, we are career hockey instructors and professionals. We are fully dedicated to all of our clients and are devoted to helping whenever and however we can. We are the best, and we can prove it. Hardcore Hockey is always available and dedicated to player development and we emphasize the work ethic required to create better hockey athletes. In the words of hockey great Wayne Gretzky, “It is not how hard you train or how long, but who you train with and learn from.”

AVAILABLE ICE
The greatest disadvantage of the D.C. area is the lack of available outdoor ice rinks, synthetic ice, and free ice. Players in the North have unlimited access to ice availability along with the ability to skate and train themselves by practicing in their free time at any of a host of these venues. With limited ice availability in the D.C. metropolitan area it is necessary to receive hands-on professional instruction in powerskating and hockey skills; otherwise, a player will not improve or advance to the next level. During the hockey season, two team practices a week are not enough to achieve this. A player should be on the ice receiving proper hockey instruction three to five days a week.

MODERN HOCKEY
Hockey has become a year-round sport with a regular season (September through March) and a developmental season (April through August). It is absolutely necessary for players to receive hockey instruction throughout the regular season and training at a more intense pace in the off-season, or developmental season. Tryouts for the upcoming season are held shortly after the end of the regular season preventing players who have not been developing their skills during the season to prepare for tryouts. Developing players who are committed to skating at least five times a week, year-round, have a greater chance of making it to the next level and becoming top players. As the old adage goes, ‘practice makes perfect,’ and it is apparent today with so many young players dominating the ranks of the NHL.

SKILL EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE
Only instructors with hockey playing experience can teach the proper hockey skating and skills techniques for effective employment on the ice. Hockey skating fundamentals are derived from the idea that a player has a puck or is in a position to receive the puck while ensuring proper skating technique. Practicing hockey skating skills with the mentality of hockey play is key to the effective transition from powerskating to hockey game-play. Hockey is a fast paced game, and will only grow faster in the future. Players must be properly trained to react under pressure. Players have to remain dedicated to the development of their own personal style of play, both mentally and physically. We understand, from our own experience, the challenges players face in their developmental years. As Instructors and mentors, we are able and willing to help in the cultivation of excellent players on and off the ice.
